Funktacular....

Nothing like a good house track to get your weekend started off right.  It's one of my favorites lately...Supafly's Be Together....as mentioned before - house is a feeling and no one can deny that feeling when you're confidence shoots through the roof - you walk into an endeavor feeling like platinum - sleek and shiny and cool and smooth...

It's the feeling when you  feel like you don't know enough before the test starts then you just smoke it.  It's the feeling you get when you first approach a girl not knowing if she'll say yes or no when you ask her for her number but you feel that you already got it.  It's the sync between your mind and body giving you total control...

That's house music - you let your body do what your mind wants it to do without being strung up.  You're reacting as opposed to pulling the strings of yourself.  That's the beauty of it.  Just let it all go and enjoy yourself while it's happening - like jumping off a cliff - you can't change your mind once you commit to it

Moral:  Get greasy - get after it!

Who the fuck?

Goes to a Celtics game dressed to the nine in a neon green body suit?  The kid that wants to get on the jumbotron the whole night looking like a fool that's who.  I took my cousin to the Celts game last night cause he turned 16, got his permit, smoked all his classes, and is an all around classy guy (happy birthday minjiks)...

We're sitting there shooting the shit and checking out the beautiful ladies that were at the game (no joke Boston is looking solid right now - props) and we continue to see this guy dressed in green hopping around like a fool (I've done similar moves so I will put myself in that category)...so I said to my cousin and my boy Commander Zip-lock that I'm going to dress in all green and do the same...

Then of course we got on the topic of wearing numerous layers so as the sausage wouldn't come busting out at will...imagine walking around with wood wearing nothing but a green jumpsuit to a Celtics game only to get kicked out by security - could be a lawsuit that may make you a nice chunk of change...

Moral:  There's plenty of ways to make money in this world - a lot of them include being greasy...

just a deck

After a long day yesterday - and I mean a long fucking day which included but was not limited to a lot of lab work, no coffee, a small bite for lunch, meetings, deliveries, pickups and other things of that nature - I was finally home.  So naturally committed to the promise to all of you I decided to work out...

So I pulled out a deck of cards and started flipping 4 cards over at a time.  I may have explained this before, but I doubt it so I will explain it now.  My boy Mahhhhky first introduced me to this type of workout routine.  You take a deck of cards, flip two cards, and like blackjack (aces = 11, paint =10 and the rest = the rest) you do that value in number of push-ups...

I've decided to do a mutant form of that where I include 2 jokers (each of value 25) and flip 4 cards at a time - average number per grouping is about 34 push-ups...and go through the whole deck...I used to go through it in a half an hour but since I've slowed down with the workouts I completed all 430 push-ups in just under an hour...and full push-ups mind you...

Moral:  It's always greasier to push yourself - but to start you can do card pairs, and switch off between push-ups and sit-ups

This woman's got some pipes!

I finally got a chance to sit down and enjoy some new music that I was introduced to by a colleague of mine.  G-baby told me that I had to sit back when I had a minute and go through "The Very Best of Aretha Franklin" because it was just that good.  Since I didn't have much of anything going on last night I decided that I'd take her up on that challenge...

Full of soul and love the album knocked me on my ass.  From the first note she had captured me and I can't express how difficult it is to capture me as I have undiagnosed ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and as such, I lose attention like I am doing now.  Back to the goods though - the lady has some pipes on her - I knew this from her classic track RESPECT...

However I had never listened to an album of hers, but her old school style worked really well for me.  Like Sam Cooke with his jazzy bluesy smooth sound, Aretha comes correct!  She's captivating (at least this album however I'd have to venture an assumption that she always captivates her audience) and so I'm going to have to keep my eye out for her albums on amazon....

Moral:  Always give any artist a try...they could easily become a favorite...

First time in six years...

Since I've strapped on a pair of ski boots and skis and hit the slopes.  Actually longer because the last time I skied I actually boarded for the first time.  I was planning on skiing but my gf at the time wanted us to try boarding and so I obliged.  The boarding was a good time - after a whole day I had wrist and coccyx also known as the tail bone...

Yup - couldn't help but continue slamming either my wrists or my ass cause I like to be great at everything that I pick up and try.  Needless to say I never got back on a board since - however - I'm not opposed to giving it another shot.  In the meantime I hadn't done much of any winter sport - unless you count shoveling fluffy white death a sport (since you do sweat!)...

I was a bit hesitant also because I hadn't been in so long that I thought I'd forgotten how to kill it when I did hit the slopes.  I went to the rental shop and entered my information - picked up my gear - kicked my fear aside and decided to tackle the black diamonds within two runs on the amateur trails...I write today victorious of a weekend that I  killed the trails - but couldn't win a single game of beer pong in......

Moral:  In the words of Warren B as quoted earlier - A climate of fear is your best friend...
