Funktacular Fridays

Listen to the track above while you continue reading...I'm thinking of making a Friday post ritual where I would post some funky track that has been on repeat in my zune, but you guys can dictate that with your responses if you care to leave any.  This weekis a track I heard from a Bob Sinclair mix called Kariba 2005 by Faze Action...

The track is upbeat and tranquil at the same time.  I first heard the track a couple years back when my boy DJ Kid Bibz gave me some of what he likes to refer to as poolside house; my flavor of choice for house music to be honest.  The beat's got the undertone of something from a Caribbean Island - hence Kariba...

The best part of listening to this song, for me at least, is that since it's so cold and stormy here in the Northeast I can put on my headphones - lock myself up in the lab and think I'm off on a far away island sippin drinks that come with umbrellas in them and getting my tan on....kinda like what Doctor J is up to right now in Miami...

Moral:  Baby oil is greasy...it's also a tanning agent...use with caution...

How's the saying go?

The early bird gets the worm?  Who the fuck thought of that?  A quick Google search reveals the solution to this.  It was an early British proverbial saying that meant being early leads to success.  There's also something to be said about being late - which is you probably slept for a few more hours since you had a fired up night...

That's not the case with me at all.  Today I was early to rise to take Doctor J and her girl L-boo to the airport so they can hit the sands of Miami.  It's 6am.  It's 17 degrees outside.  There's no sunshine.  God did not intend for man to be up at this awful hour for anything.  4am - ok you may still be getting fired up - 5am you're probably crashing - 530am you're asleep - 6am you shouldn't ever be awake...

The solution to this problem is that I will be going into work early today and testing out the proverbial saying.  I wonder how much success I will have in my work.  I'm definitely going to be in terrible need of caffeine most likely by 11am.  I don't even know what to eat at 6am.  Not only that I have a volleyball match at 7pm tonight and then the writing group meeting...maybe the proverb does work?

Moral:  Let's hope the worm isn't rotten...unless it's in tequila...

One of my favorites

I did it yesterday morning and I did it again this morning.  A nice venti cup of americano with no room of course because it tastes good black.  Nothing beats the taste of watered down coffee bean.  Yeah fine call me a kitty kat but I am also the same person that went through three quad con-pannas...

That was an insane day - man my heart felt like it was going to come through my chest.  For you kitty kats who don't know what a quad con-panna is it's 4 shots of espresso with some whip cream on the top...yeah fuckin amatuers...now drink three of them and then talk to me...

No really though - a nice americano in the morning - I find starbucks espresso beans to be very fresh and the punch that it packs isn't much.  Not only that - for any of you on a diet like I myself am - it's only got something like 100 cals.  For a coffee that's really good - and it's a natural laxitive....

Moral:  Grease up the pipes for launch...

Out cold...

Somewhere between 930 and 945 last night I ended up getting knocked out.  I sat down for dinner and ate this spicy chicken slash rice slash eggplant-yogurt-dill concoction, watched the Cs win and shortly there after my eyes turned heavy and here I am up at 630 in the Ay-Em....

I don't recall being that tired yesterday but I did do something around 3000 jump ropes (no not all in a row).  Did a round of 500 (stretched), then 1k (stretched), another 1k (stretched), and blasted out the last 500 as quickly as possible - and guess what - no you didn't guess it - guess again - no, guess again - ok yeah I stretched...

Maybe it was the 3000 ropes, maybe it was the yogurt thing, maybe I was just really that tired and my body wanted me to take some more time and rest but it came as a curve ball when I woke up this morning with the TV on in the living room and my fat ass sprawled on the couch...btw don't use an everlast rope - they do anything but...try the nike speed rope if you're going to get after it...

Moral:  Either ease up on the ropes or watch what I eat - a controlled experiment will fix this mystery right up...

VOODEUX - The Paranormal....

Play the track while you read as you'll feel the earthy tones with just the right aroma for oak and vitamin D - It's one of the #Ten tracks that I got my hands on mixed by KiloWatts & Tanner Ross also known as VOODEUX.  The CD was given to me from my good friend NICE TO THE FACE yesterday and is a very good mix of techno house that is not my usual flavor but it's nice to listen to what they describe as "Halloween on wax"...

I've been driving around with it's brought about a different range of emotions in me.  It's a little more mechanical - steel - matrix type feel of music that I haven't listened to in quite some time.  A nice break from the norm really as it brought me back to when I enjoyed dancing to it at the axis (since closed) and a few other spots that played techno house like this...

So as my emotions were altered by the music it dawned on me that this may make for a great score for one of the films the writing group I'm involved with has been working on (of course at the discretion of Voodeux)...so I am going to pitch it to them and see what comes of it as nothing is definite until the 4 of us say it is...and piece the puzzle together...but it's another cloud in the brainstorm that is our direction...

Moral:  Step out of the box - to get back in...
