The new board was broken in last night when I met up with Jizz and had the first outing of twenty-ten at the local starbucks.  I was on pace to take care of business quickly.  Games one and two came and went faster than the china-green tips green tea that I ordered.  But then something happened.  Jizz decided that he too would like to win a game.

Game two went to him in an inglorious loss by me at the last minute as he broke a couple guys I had straggling and then made his move for the finish line.  Game four I ended up squeeking by him in a not crippling double-five roll that put me in position to cruise to victory.  I'm up three to one at this point when Jizz makes his move and takes three games from me by storm!

Pushing me to the edge of my seat as I bite down on my nails, I looked down at my fingers and decided then and there to play what the dice gave me instead of forcing moves to rolls I actually wanted.  Before I knew it I had tied up the match and was ready for the ninth and final game of the evening.  I started with a double six and didn't let up after that.  The victory was mine.  The war - only time will tell...

Let's try this again

Today will be my first day back to the volleyball court in a long while. I had tried to go last week but I had a good friend from out of state visiting, plus it was V-dawgs birthday so I had to go out.  Which was the reason for the aggressive headache the day after.

I'm ready today though.  There aren't any distractions, just me and the game.  I'm not going to stay at work late like I usually do.  I going to be stretching throughout the day to get myself a little more prepared.  My coworkers may not appreciate seeing a big ass in the air as I wait for machines to complete the tests I've started on them so I plan on stretching in my cube.  It's all about efficiency people and I'm the king of that.  .

I'm anticipating a very dominating game by my team.  We're all eager because they team we're going up against we love to talk smack to (coworkers - you gotta talk smack).   Our energy levels the past couple days has been high so we expect to come with the thunder.  We're just going to get out there and throw down like we always do...

Moral:  Win or lose it's always nice to have a Dos Equis after a long day...stay thirsty my friends.

It was good

It wasn't great; but it was good.  Apocalypto is what I'm talking about.  The movie had a slow and steady build.  A very good story line of the mayan tribe that got invaded and well you can watch the rest of the film yourself.  It's worth seeing at least once if not for only the scene where Jaguar Paw creeps out of the mud pit that he falls into...

His eyes full of rage and his heart full of revenge for the people who, well, I'm not going to give it away, so go rent the film.  I will say that 2 hours and 10 minutes didn't seem like 2 hours and 10 minutes (that's on the back cover - not a spoiler).  The film has fantastic camera movement and great acting done by natives of the land.

It also helps that I watched in blu-ray format on the 7.1 surround sound, but that's neither here nor there...It seemed.  Rotten Tomatos gave it a 6.3/10 for the bloody masterpiece but in my opinion I'd give it a little over a 7...say 7.2, 7.3.  The make up alone should give the film credit along with the amazing sets they created.  But nothing beats the gore....bon appetite...

Time don't go back

Lost one's by Jay-z.  A classic hip hop track from Hov, he's got a melancholy tone through the song which is the way I'd been flowing all day.  For no good reason yesterday, like many Mondays past, I wasn't in high spirits.  Not quite sure what the cause of it is.

I've put quite a bit of thought what it is that I've done days prior that allows me to start the morning with some pep in my step.  My handle on the matter isn't quite there yet.  Sometimes something triggers a somber feeling and it just carries.  I usually end up putting some sort of upbeat music to get past it, and usually it works but some days it's difficult.

Yesterday was one of those days after driving into work listening to lost ones things came into perspective a bit.  "Time don't go back it go forward.  Can't run from the pain, go towards it."  I did as J said and before the end of the day I flipped the script by spending quality time with the family instead, enjoying their company...

It's always nice

To spend a weekend with nothing else but your thoughts.  Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me, this weekend.  This weekend I spent watching my brackets fall apart.  This weekend I watched from the sidelines of fantasy glory.  This weekend I spent getting busted in not only holdem tournaments, but also pot limit omaha, which is always nice.

To see my kings get cracked by tens.  To see my aces get cracked by ace/queen.  To see the jets win and the patriots lose.  This weekend was sour for the most part.  Except for saturday night when we got after it and I decided it was a grand idea to focus my efforts on drinking crown royal on the rocks again.  As though the headache I experience not but a day was so distant in memory.

But it's always nice to experience some sort of defeat in anything.  It makes the victories that are yet to be won that much more enjoyable.  The good times that much greater, and the future with all it's possibilities that much brighter.  And it doesn't hurt to see a bunch of good friends together on a saturday night breaking it down in classic fashion to music that's just oh so good...

Moral:  Just like music...
