Right of way...

Had a fantastic day yesterday at work, took a part through a bunch of tests making me feel really efficient. And I had things to do after work, drop my friend off, fix my uncles computer, and grab myself a lane with some friends...

So I left work and dropped my boy Sarg off at his house. On the way to my uncles I stopped to get some gas, great deal so I am still flying high. I pull out of the gas station and start going north on a two lane dimly lit road. I see a car inching out at the speed of a slug so I figure, as I have the right of way, to continue along...about 20 - 30 feet from passing the car pulls out to go south...the fuckin nerve right....

So i give the..."what the fuck are you doing" facial expression, with my palms facing the heavens.....i mean this lady was from the class of 'BB...Barbara Bush...and she gave me the meanest mug like I was in the wrong...me, who has the right of way! So Barbara Bush's best friend decides to not only mean mug me as she slow roles out of the parking lot, her arm flies up like BAM and I see her hand practically transcend into my car and her give me the finger......I didn't know gray-haired grizzled women moved that fast...it was something fierce I tell you...fierce...

Post movie grub...

Last night I went to see "He's just not that into you" with a good friend of mine, C-lo...funny movie, I highly recommend it if you are looking for a good modern comedy, all star cast, Luis Guzman even makes an appearance, you know Pachanga from Carlito's Way...his grease is saved for another day though...

So I get this craving, even though we went out for eats right before the movie, I was starving by the time i got out, so I make a call to Michael's in Belmont when I am about 15 away...that's all the time they need...lettuce, pickles, light mayo and some mushrooms....i gotta fevahhh...and the only cure is just more grease!

I remember the first steak and cheese I had, steak and cheese wizz actually (AKA steak and wizz)...one of the slimiest, filthiest, down right greasiest sub's I have eaten to this day...Jim's Steakhouse in Philly (Insert Philly Love Here)...Thank you Mrs. K for taking us to see downtown Philly then treating us to such awesome food...I think I still may be digesting that one to this day...ohhhhhhh so greasy!!!!!!!!!!

Walking the Isle

I finally did it; I asked a girl to marry me. What did she say? YES! There is something to be said about getting down on one knee, staring up at the one, and asking her to spend the rest of her life with you...and vice versa but you already came to that conclusion when you bought the rock...

It was totally magical, something right out of the movies right, I mean my boy Deynek had a pretty awesome proposal, he asked his wife to go for a walk with him along a Mexico beach during sunset, so they did...he asked for her to get in the water with him...she rejected. Ten minutes down the sand she suggested they go into the water, and Deynek drops the no. She said come on, so he dropped to one knee saying..."Only if you marry me!" Romance, who said it was dead...

So back to my engagement...wasn't as romantic, we were out at dinner, I had a lobster bib on looking all spiff. I had told the waiter to come over and spill wine on her dress, mostly cause I always wanted to ever since she showered me with wine on our first date, but whatever...anyhow, he came over, knocked the drink over, I quickly dropped to one knee and in her panic.............

I awoke to the Emmy award winning Sports Center, Adriana Lima had gotten married to Marko Jaric...

Next order of business...

So after the usual Monday night routine, 24 very compelling, if you aren't into it start from season 1, promise you'll enjoy...anyhow i started flipping through the stations and came upon sex and the city, and I continued to flip the channel...came upon East of Eden...James Dean and Julie Harris...

A very good movie, gist is that Dean is fighting for his father's love and never seems to get it, no matter what he tries...seems like people are always working to win over the love of people that don't really care for them in this world, but for what reason? Taking it one step further, for what reason do we still pursue dreams that continue to elude us?

I find it to be a youthful innocence when we pursue, what it is we pursue. However, by the time we pass the finish line have we forgotten why we were running that race in the first place? Take your new years resolutions for example, how many of still are keeping up with yours? I hadn't worked out the past 4 days and finally hit the gym again today to leave with a clear mind and some fresh thoughts...I wrote a couple of things I want and put it right in my wallet...so whenever I reach for it, I will remind myself of what I am reaching for...

I've got a golden ticket...

Shawshank Redemption, Godfather 1 and 2, and Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory....what do these all have in common? they are cinematic classic that which have withstood the test of time...it doesn't matter how much time is left in the film....doesn't matter if I have to be somewhere; anytime I turn on the teli and catch one of these hits on I can't help but sit there til it is complete!

Be honest with yourselves, how often have you seen some of these hits...how much fun is it singing the I've got the golden ticket song with Grandpa Joe as he is running around their small home trying to find his cane, slippers, hat and coat...he's go the golden ticket...I NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO SHINE. NEVER A HAPPY SONG TO SING. BUT SUDDENLY HALF THE WORLD IS MINE...WHAT AN AMAZING THING!!!!

It's so awesome seeing Grandpa Joe get fired up and start dancing around the room...definitely a great cap to watch that movie after the awesome 30th birthday weekend we celebrated for our friend Sargent...even Dwardo came out both nights manning the dance floor with two crutches and a boot...can't ask for greasier times with greasier friends...

Moral: In the immortal words of Grandpa Joe - "I'VE GOT A GOLDEN CHANCE TO MAKE MY WAY..." What's your golden ticket?
